Bantam Books, Inc. v. Sullivan
Bantam challenged Rhode Island officials after a state commission pressured distributors not to carry publications it considered objectionable. The United States Supreme Court unanimously held that the commission's informal blacklist and associated threats were an unconstitutional prior restraint on freedom of expression.
