MP3 Search and Lyric Snapshots Repeatedly Found to Infringe Copyright
Baidu Music (formerly Baidu MP3) faced long-running copyright litigation over deep links and lyric snapshots: in the early Busheng v. Baidu MP3 download case, the first-instance judgment ordered compensation; in Universal Music v. Baidu over infringement of the right of information network dissemination, the court ordered an end to the infringement and compensation; in the Music Copyright Society of China v. Baidu lyrics case, the final judgment awarded 60,000 yuan. Baidu gradually reached licensed authorization agreements with record companies, and Baidu Music was later renamed Qianqian Music.
