Automata was founded by two architects from Zaha Hadid's research lab, who initially explored architectural engineering applications but discovered that modern automation was unnecessarily complex and restricting innovation. They assembled a team and founded Automata with the aim to enable new opportunities for innovation with automation. The company later focused on the life sciences industry and developed the world's first fully automated lab bench and accompanying software. Their first product was Eva, and their current product is LINQ.
