    LCD panel price-fixing conspiracy

The U.S. Department of Justice reported that AU Optronics, its American subsidiary, and former executives participated in a worldwide conspiracy to fix prices for TFT-LCD panels between September 2001 and December 2006. In September 2012, AUO was sentenced to pay a $500 million criminal fine and implement an antitrust-compliance program. Two former executives received three-year prison sentences and criminal fines. The U.S. Ninth Circuit later rejected AUO's appeal in July 2014.
