Arbutus Landscaping Inc. was fined $318,000 after pleading guilty on Aug. 19 to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety Act in relation to the death of a worker who fell through a roof at an Edmonton construction site on Dec. 11, 2023. The fine includes the victim fine surcharge, and other charges were withdrawn. Albatross Roofing Ltd. was also charged with OHS offences related to the same fatality, with sentencing set for Sept. 10.

On Tuesday, the province announced Arbutus Landscaping Inc. was fined $318,000 after pleading guilty in court on Aug. 19 to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act in relation to the death of a worker who fell through a roof at an Edmonton construction site on Dec. 11, 2023.
As well, Albatross Roofing Ltd. was charged with OHS offences related to the same fatality. The company’s sentencing date is Sept. 10.
