AmSafe Bridport is a British aerospace and defense safety engineering company. It designs and manufactures engineered textile solutions for the safety and securement needs of the global aerospace and defence markets. The company was formed in 1979 from the industrial division of Bridport-Gundry Ltd.
History
AmSafe Bridport was formed in 1979 from the industrial division of Bridport-Gundry Ltd. In 1999, it was sold to the Marmon Group. In 2000, an Erie facility was acquired in the USA, adding FAA repair station capability. In 2001, a manufacturing facility was constructed and opened in Sri Lanka, later expanded to become the principal manufacturing site. In 2004, ownership of the aviation and defence activities transferred to Amsafe Partners Inc. In 2010, Transdigm acquired AmSafe, leading to a strategic reorganisation into AmSafe Bridport, AmSafe Aviation & AmSafe Commercial as separate entities. In 2012, AmSafe Bridport acquired Nordisk Aviation.
