    Huntington Beach offshore oil sheen

An oil sheen observed offshore near Huntington Beach prompted a multi-agency response and renewed attention to nearby oil infrastructure. Amplify said there was no indication that its operations caused the sheen. Testing did not conclusively determine the source and reportedly found characteristics consistent with naturally occurring seep oil.

Beta Offshore Southern California oil spill

A subsea pipeline associated with Amplify’s Beta Offshore operations leaked oil off Southern California in October 2021. Oil reached beaches and wetlands, and the event resulted in wildlife impacts, emergency response, regulatory investigations, public criticism, litigation, and criminal proceedings. Investigators examined possible anchor dragging by commercial vessels during an earlier storm as a cause of pipeline displacement and damage.
