Mississippi River pollution and false-information case
ARTCO was associated with investigations into oil and other pollutant discharges between 2004 and 2007. The company pleaded guilty to giving false information to authorities after an oil spill was discovered at its St. Louis facility. Two employees pleaded guilty to criminal charges, and ARTCO agreed in April 2009 to pay a $3 million fine.
