Alpari UK announced insolvency after the Swiss National Bank removed its franc-euro exchange-rate cap, an event that caused extreme volatility in foreign-exchange markets. The English High Court then appointed KPMG special administrators.

Alpari (UK) Limited was fined £140,000 for failings in its anti-money-laundering systems and controls. The company's former money-laundering reporting officer was separately fined £14,000.
