Environmental discharge settlement
Allegheny Ludlum agreed to pay a civil penalty to resolve allegations brought by the U.S. Department of Justice on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency concerning unlawful discharges of oil and pollutants, including chromium, zinc, copper, and nickel, into the Allegheny and Kiskiminetas rivers. The company’s Pennsylvania facilities were also associated with waste at the ALSCO Park Lindane Dump Superfund site and concerns about chromium emissions affecting local air quality.
