Conflict-of-interest and trust-ownership controversy

Agrofert became the subject of sustained Czech and European scrutiny after Andrej Babiš transferred ownership to two private trust funds while holding senior political office. The controversy concerned whether the arrangements removed his effective control or economic interest and whether companies connected to the group remained eligible for public subsidies and European Union funding.
