    Ownership and investor litigation

Bayat and Afghan Wireless were involved in litigation with founding investors Stuart Bentham and Lord Michael Cecil over alleged misappropriation, unpaid ownership interests, fraud, breach of contract, and conspiracy. The American proceedings were dismissed, while the dispute was ultimately dismissed in Bayat’s favor in British courts in August 2011. The allegations were contested and should not be treated as established wrongdoing.

    Allegations concerning Operation Foxden

A Vanity Fair report alleged that Afghan Wireless was connected to an American intelligence effort called Operation Foxden, including claims concerning ownership transfers and potential access to telecommunications infrastructure. Ehsan Bayat denied that American intelligence agencies had arranged the ownership change, rejected allegations of wiretapping or unlawful conduct, and stated that a request for a United States sanctions exemption had been denied. The supplied material does not independently substantiate the allegations.
