2017
OFAC sanctions settlement
Aban Offshore’s Singapore subsidiary was penalized in connection with alleged re-export of U.S.-origin goods to Iran without authorization. The matter was resolved through a settlement with the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Aban Loyd Chiles customs case
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence seized the Aban-ICE vessel over alleged unauthorized deployment outside its contractual zone. Aban disputed the customs duties and penalties and argued that amended essentiality certificates supported the vessel’s deployment.
Central Bank of India insolvency case
Central Bank of India sought insolvency proceedings against Aban Offshore over alleged loan defaults. The company later reached a one-time settlement with the bank in August 2022, after which the insolvency application was withdrawn.
