    Uttara outlet pricing violation

Following a customer complaint, Bangladesh's Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection found that an Aarong Uttara outlet had sold a panjabi at nearly twice its earlier price within a five-day interval. The authority imposed a Tk450,000 fine and ordered the outlet closed for one day.

  2. Criticism of producer compensation and rural labour economics

Historian Taj Hashmi criticised BRAC-linked projects for potentially relying on low-cost rural labour. He cited an example in which an embroidered sari reportedly sold at Aarong for about Tk6,000 while the embroiderer received Tk300, raising questions about how retail value is distributed among producers and sellers.
