North and South Daoxiangcun trademark litigation and judgments on different rights bases spark controversy

In 2018, Beijing and Suzhou courts respectively issued first-instance judgments in trademark cases in which North and South Daoxiangcun sued each other, involving cessation of infringement and compensation. The courts explained in media interviews that the rights bases and claims of the two cases differed and could not be simplified as different judgments in the same case.
