Grilled Fish Powder Found to Contain Poppy Shell Components, Notified by CFDA

In January 2016, the CFDA announced that food from 35 catering units tested positive for poppy shell components; grilled fish powder from Beijing Guijie Hu Da Catering Co., Ltd. tested positive for papaverine, narcotine, and others, and a case was opened. Hu Da responded that the amounts were trace and suspected supplier equipment residue, and that it had changed seasoning suppliers. Hu Da had also been ordered to suspend operations for rectification in 2006 due to a noncompliant kitchen. Case opened; brand reputation damaged.
