Cleaning lye mixed into Youbei fresh milk and product recalled
In June 2012, cleaning lye from a Bright Dairy production line mixed into some Youbei fresh milk, triggering consumer complaints and a food safety response. Shanghai quality supervision authorities identified the cause, and the company recalled the product and apologized. The Bright Food Group entry is linked only to its dairy business and does not extend to all of its food brands.

Infant cheese ordered to suspend production over improper use of mineral salts
In 2012, the use of mineral salts in Bright Dairy’s Xiaoxiaoguangming Baby Cheese drew regulatory and media attention, and Shanghai quality supervision authorities ordered production of the relevant product to stop. This incident is recorded separately from that year’s fresh milk lye contamination and is limited to the relevant cheese product.
