The Škoda Rapid is a subcompact sedan car produced by Czech manufacturer Škoda Auto exclusively for the Indian market, introduced in November 2011 and manufactured until 2021.
The "Rapid" name was previously used in the 1930s for the Rapid (Type 901) and in the 1980s for the rear-engine Rapid coupé, and was also used for a larger sedan and hatchback for the European and Chinese market.
Overview
In October 2011, Škoda resurrected the Rapid nameplate for a rebadged version of the Volkswagen Vento, also made in India, with sales starting in November.[1] The Rapid features a similar rear end design with the Vento, except for the taillights, but shares the front end design with the second-generation Škoda Fabia,[2] to which however it is not directly related, the Rapid being based on the newer PQ25 platform of the Volkswagen Group.[3]
